Weighing In

Why do some people pull there rigs in to weigh stations and some just drive right by?

My rig is a 99 F250 Powerstroke with 5th wheel.

I noticed a Cummins with a travel trailer (maybe 30 foot) sitting in line with the Semi's at a Virginia weigh station.
  • If you use your rig for commercial purposes you have to get it weighed. I saw several places in California where the sign said "All vehicles with trailers must stop."
  • Perhaps different states have different laws regarding RVs and or what weights are required to go through the weigh stations.

In CA, NV, AZ or OR I've never had to stop at a weigh station.
  • I have pulled into a state run weigh station for commercial trucks in WA to get a new rig weighed. They were more than happy to do it for free.
