I've decided I'm going to do the frame repair/strengthening myself. After that I'll take it somewhere to check the axle alignment
I agree to do the final alignment after the frame fix. That said I would figure out where the alignment is at now as you may have hangers welded on wrong creating a thrust angle problem. You really do not want to beef up hangers that are in the wrong location to start with to later cut them off and reweld them back on.
Your weld shop buddy can help with the hanger relocation if needed while he is fixing the frame. In my case, again.... I worked the alignment fixes in with the hanger lower flange fix issues. And adding schock absobers too. (let me know if this is of insterest, have another "fix it " post on them too) I was able to do this in my own yard as I was addressing the hangers and the messed up axles.
Here is another "fix it" post on the alignment. There is also a link in there to the "figure out what it wrong" post too.
TT axle alignment & install - Detailed (long lot's of pics)
And yes, this is all fixable. The sad part is, it was all preventable too. With more care to the orignal frame build and addition of extra guessets and heavier components from the get go, none of this would of happened.
Good luck and hope this helps.
Please post back pics of your repair when you get to that stage. A lot of us are suscribed to this thread and I'm always up to learn what others have done.
