You suggested that a change in tires from ST to LT could be the cause for the frame failure. You also suggested that the change in tread rubber compound would also contribute to significant traction changes and that you felt that ST type tires had "stronger" sidewalls than LT type tires.
As a tire engineer I was pointing out that coefficient of friction difference between ST & LT type tires was only a possible minor contributor and that other changes in traction such as road surface were likely to be greater.
I also was wondering what data your claim on sidewall strength was based on.
Finally I felt that changes in tire characteristics should not be sufficiently large to result in frame failure.
Bottom line. As a Tire Engineer I do not believe there is data to support the idea that the frame problems were caused by tire changes but were most likely the result of weak frame design and / or construction. Hope this clears up the confusion.
