Weight rating of fifth wheel hitch

In my opinion. Since this is the key component between my trailer and my truck. I didn't want to scrimp for a few $.
When I ordered my hitch, instead of going with the 18k rating for my 17k (when loaded) 5er, I chose to go with the next higher rated one at 21K.
The added level of mental comfort while driving down the road, especially of it is a bit rough, is sooo worth the few extra $.

I'd suggest you purchase a hitch that is the same as (or better) than the towing capacity of your vehicle. If your truck is rated to tow up to 16K, then go with the 16K hitch. If the truck is rated for more, go with the higher rating. My F350 has a towing capacity of 15,900, so I went with the 16K hitch.
