I'd suggest you purchase a hitch that is the same as (or better) than the towing capacity of your vehicle. If your truck is rated to tow up to 16K, then go with the 16K hitch. If the truck is rated for more, go with the higher rating. My F350 has a towing capacity of 15,900, so I went with the 16K hitch.
