weird

Still had probably one unknown critter in MH. Set up squirrel trap, live mouse trap, regular mouse trap and glue. The critter would go into squirrel trap and steal bait but not trip it, plus left small turds. Squirrel bait gone. Checked MH today and regular mousetrap GONE. Nothing in glue trap or live trap.
Started searching for trap. Went to front and found the trap attached to a LIVE mouse next to the driver's side door, in the step well.
Got a piece of wood and finished it off. Lucky it didn't crawl to some hidden place to die. Way creepy.

  • I had a critter problem in one old farmhouse that the Bride and I rented many moons ago. The house had sat empty for many years so it was a Holiday Inn Express for rodents.

The most effective trap for all critters was two medium sized wood base spring traps positioned facing each other with one edge elevated. This formed a narrow "V" path that the animal had to travel to get to the bait. Seeds seemed to be the most effective bait with a gob of peanut butter on each trap. Mr. Rodent would enter the V path and invariably spring a trap. When the first trap sprung his body would contact the second trap and lights out for Mr Rodent.

These were the Golden Nights of living together, all alone in an isolated farm at the end of a long driveway, snuggled in bed with the occasional snap-snap of the traps. We soon eliminated all of the critters and life was never as exciting or as cozy, again.
  • Shouldn't empty into trash can, but a bucket 1/2 full of water.

    Mouse soup.

I have used this mouse trap idea a couple of times with good results. Mice can't go without peanutbutter either... The good thing here is the mouse gets his last meal before hitting the road again as both mouse and toilet paper roll usually falls into the trash can..

Then I can take the tall trash can and go dump it in the neighbors yard. The mice probably beat me back home hehe...
