Here is the geral rule for welding on vehicles. If you have a stick welder disconnect the battery. If you have a wire welder you are safe. Keep your ground as close to the work peice as possible. Grind off any mill scale where you are welding as well as for your ground location. I weld on cars at least 10 times a week for various reasons and have never had a customer complain that I fried any electronics. If you have a heat treated frame it will have a notice somewhere be it on the frame or in the owners manual. I would personally build my own that bolted on in some factory holes.
