What do you use for a refrigerator Thermometer ?

After searching for a considerable time I decided on this one. I wanted to know what the temp was without opening the door.

Found this one @ AMAZON

I'm always using something for it's unintended purpose. :h

  • The acurite is hard to beat. If you use a 'wired' unit, then even a thin wire through the freezer/fridge gasket can cause problems. Be sure ANY battery type unit (like the acurite) that goes in the FREEZER has lithium batteries NOT alkaline, normal, or rechargeable. The lithium are not affected by the below freezing temps as are the others and will last longer.
  • I use one that shows four temps. Have one probe in the freezer, one in the refer, and one with a probe on about a 30" cord that hangs just the below the front end of the MH for the outdoor temp. The screen also shows the temp inside of the MH.

If you buy one, buy an extra sending unit or two because you may not find them in a couple of years when one quits working. That will save you from starting all over buying a totally new set up.

We use an AcuRite dual fridge/freezer remote reading thermometer. It shows us the two temps as well as min/max readings, and also has alarm settings to warn us if the temps get too far out of range.

X3 and this is the best I've found after using 4 or 5 different ones.
I especially like the high/low continuous display along with the current temps.

  • I use my hand. Much cheaper, works well, and doesn't require batteries.
  • Mine works so well that I just don't pay any attention to the temps inside.
  • I was using a wireless pair from Radio Shack, but I think the bouncing did it in. The outdoor unit that I had inside the fridge no longer sends to the indoor unit. I need to buy another pair of some sort.
  • I have a thermometer that was formerly one that was stuck on the outside of a window on our old coach. I is a digital thermometer that you can see through and it is only about an eighth inch thick. I also has a 24 hour memory. It is thin enough to slip in to the top door shelf. I like it because I not only get the current temp, but I can see the high and low for the day. I have found that the little fridge does a good job of holding temp!

  • Hey if it works why not.

Wireless weather stations are another means of monitoring food & freezer sections
