The state of GA has a homestead exemption (can't remember the name of it) where the value with which our property taxes are based is the value of our home the day we filed for the exemption. If our home one day is worth 500,000, it will only ever be taxed based on the 177,000 it was accessed at back in 2006. Property taxes on our 2,000 sq ft home are $1,400 for 2016.
Plus, our gas is $2.15/gallon for regular, diesel is around $2.40/gallon.
