I do agree the driver door pillar label that states "weight of occupants and cargo should not exceed XXXX" does not include any driver. If it did, the label would say weight of passengers, not occupants. I do believe it includes a full tank of fuel, since I don't think most people would consider fuel to be cargo.
GVWR, RAWR and FAWR are all pretty well defined terms and have legal meaning in many jurisdictions. I don't believe the term payload is as well defined. It sounds like many define payload by the door sticker without a driver. Ford subtracts a driver in its payload calculations as quoted from the Ford brochure above. I'm really not trying to be argumentative, just saying some terms have different meanings to different folks. That is one reason the vehicle ratings and tow ratings are hard to understand by most and debated by many.
We may have wandered off topic since payload is not really what the Op asked about. I just assumed they wanted to know what GVWR was since they asked about gross vehicle weight. That may be wrong on my part.
