We bought it used (ex fleet lease) and checked the VIN to see what options were installed by the factory and nothing was added by the PO. The payload on the sticker corresponds with the numbers on Ford's website for the options we have except for some minor things like remote start, tow hooks and sat. radio. The only things that would really only account for the difference is the driver (me), a full tank of gas, the canopy and a lightweight bedliner.
If you have "Lost" 800-900# of payload, then you either have overlooked stuff you have added (fuel tank? tool box? etc) or you have an issue with Ford as they have inaccurately labelled your truck.
Which label are you looking at?
The "Tire Loading Information" label is not a legal requirement in Canada. I'm surprised you even have that.
However, the "Camper Loading" label in the glovebox is.
But going back to your truck.....
You have added:
Driver - 180-#
Fuel (lets say 30 gals@6#/gal) - 180#
Canopy - 200#
Bedliner - ?
There's 560# of your "missing" payload right there.
As for "GVWR not being a legal number", you live in the only jurisdiction in North America where I believe it IS a violation to exceed GVWR.
