Well, my house is no mansion - but it's on a beautiful lake and there's an awesome park nearby; and Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo are pleasant drives away...
Well .... I see that you didn't mention your house being on a hilltop!
I'm guessing that's because there aren't any real hilltops in that area? I was raised about 10-12 miles from Kalamazoo in Otsego, Michigan, (Allegan County) and can recall there being only shallow rolling hills/valleys around all the lakes I fished in for bluegill, bass, and crappy. ;)
Our hillside acreage here in CA of course takes a lot of maintenance and upkeep - very little of which I can afford to hire out completely. Hence, we love RV trips to get away from the expense, work, and anxiety for a bit here and there.
However, we made a summer RV trip to Otsego (we camped a few feet from the shore of Gun Lake) and the surrounding areas a couple of years ago for old times sake and I still would in no way trade it (especially the winters and summer humidity) for the spectacular weather, camping environments, and year-around RV'ing we have here in California.
