- PapPappyExplorerThere are "Fur kids" and "Fur Grandkids":)
Usually, people will refer to their dogs (and sometimes cats) as Fur Kids, if they don't have any children of their own, or their kids have grown and left the "nest" (gee, another animal analogy:B).
I doubt that any dog love will have an argument with the concept, even if they don't use the term themselves.
Certainly nothing to get upset about. - crickeydogExplorer

And your point or reason for asking is...?:h
Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!! - classicdudeExplorerI am also one of those who just don't get it, but I see my 87 year old dad with his pet and HE sure 'gets it'. That's good enough for me.
- Dave_EExplorerwell thanks a lot now another theory kicked to the curb nobody told me they were animals they acted just like most kids I know today and sometimes better, I thought they just had a lot of hair. Well Dang nab it anyway
- Water-BugExplorer IIAfter observing some "kids", refering to pets as "fur kids" could be demeaning to the pet.
- TexasShadowExplorer IIwe spoil our Lhasa pretty good. He has us trained well to respond to his commands :)
but both of us were raised around farms and ranches and we know that a dog is an animal, not a human.
I call him our fur kid because we see ourselves treating him like a grandchild in a lot of ways...and gaining a lot of pleasure from his antics. - Chock_Full_o__NExplorerNot a fan of the term "fur kids." I have real kids and I have a little doggy. As much as I adore my doggy, my kids come first. My doggy is not a kid, he's an animal. Lucky for me, he doesn't seem to notice the difference. :B
