This is really odd. I went out and pulled the slide off the fin, and there is no wire or anything on it or looks like there has ever been one. The probe is lying under it as seen in the pic.
For the life of me, I cannot see how this could ever do anything.
Edit: raygreg, I went out and tried to attach the wire to the slide, but it is fairly stiff, and just wants to push the slide off and makes it tough to adjust it up and down. The fridge is automatic, and works well no matter where that wire is.
