I did not notice the wire was missing. You should have a white wire with a 1" or so bulb on the end. This goes into the white clip on the fins.
What type of fan did you install?
I purchased it off of eBay. Type in Domestic fridge fan and it is the one for $17.50. Works good. I did play with its location on my last trip and found that it actually works better if I lay it flat on the top shelf facing down. Works much better than the little blue cube one. I was turned onto this fan on this forum, type in fridge fan in search box and you'll get lots of good info on it. Happy camping.

I have a small fan that takes two D batteries. Sounds like your type will function much better.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the fan?
It moves air around inside the frig. Helps to cool more evenly.
