That's typical in all of our Industries, the mechanics are "Jack of all Trades,but Masters of none". If you carry a toolbox with a couple of Channel Locks you are a mechanic. The managers in these Companies are the same except in a better paying position. Sad but this is reality. That's why everything is made in Japan and China.
