Building something that will last 20 years isn't part of the business plan. Not saying their aren't some good ones left ( Prevost, etc), but they're those who make to order, not mass produced to sit on a dealers lot. Not to mention the industry doesn't demand better product, they police themselves. Nobody to hold them accountable.
You know, this is 100% true for the new housing market too! If you've ever had the opportunity to actually go to a site where there are building new homes, it's appalling what materials are going in those walls. But they install granite counter tops and ceramic tiles around the shower, and install surround systems, but the inside "guts" of the house is just trash! But it's the "glitter" that attracts an uninformed buyer.
I'm old enough now, I've seen houses built with real lumber, not glued particle board with shelf-paper stuck to it to simulate plastic wood. Any wonder the same mentality has struck the RV industry?
But, I guarantee you, even the cheapest RV will withstand a 80 mph wind (head on) and still stand tall, when that same particle board house will blow down!
