I like the idea of being able to go wherever I'd like to go.
I had the option to buy a permanently installed unit in a campground and, while I didn't entirely hate the idea, I didn't like the idea of always vacationing at the same place all the time. Some people have cottages and like that kind of thing, I get it... but I like seeing different things.
I also like walking around a campground and seeing the different units out there and what people have done with them. RVers are, for the most part, friendly folk and willing to have a conversation on just about anything.
