Having owned to many jeeps do the 1997+ years with the 6 cylinder with a hardtop you'll probably be happy- Full doors are preferable too- as you can always find a hard top cheaper then a soft top and 1997 plus have a coil suspension. There are a lot of details to go into but that's the best place to start- 8K should get you in the early 2000 depending on miles and seller- setting up for towing is cheap- but you can add stuff like a proportional break for a bit more that is worth it- I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and 2006 Jeep Unlimited Wrangler with a few toys on it- we flat tow both- and occasionally when we get around to setting it up a manual chevy cruze.
