We have the Blue Camco for outside the RV and a whole house filter inside the wet bay. After camping for a week and not having another trip planned for about 3 months, what do you guys do with your water filters? How do you store them? Throw em out? I don't keep rig hooked up to water when she is parked home. Please don't turn this into my filter system is better than yours, I trust yours is great.Thanks.

I blow the blue one out with air, and store it on end to drain. The undersink/wet bay one I change annually.

I fill the hose and filter with the same chlorinated city wate I filled the tank with and screw the ends together to keep it trapped inside the hose. Been doing it for 7 years and haven't had an issue yet. I change out the filter every season.

Good Question. I also blow the hose and filter out and then screw the other end of the hose to the filter housing so it's all sealed. No water dripping and no bugs in the hose. We don't drink the water.

Drain out excess water, plastic caps on openings, store inside a sealed plastic bag.

I have drained them and put in a plastic bag then stored in the refrigerator at home. Some filter's have a chemical that prevents bacteria growth and they can be left alone.

Our filter instructions state to put the filter in a zip bag (one came with) and fill it with water and store it above 35 degrees F. Unfortunately, the bag has holes in it.
But for 13 seasons I have been shaking the water out of it and stored it dry with the hoses with no caps; all wrong!

I have wondered the same thing. I though about putting shut off valves on each side of the filter, then after draining, just shut the valves until next trip.

I have been back and forth as to go with the disposable filters, or a home model with replaceable filters. Main reason I don't have one yet....

I wish I could find $2 filters... We use the same blue filter but we came every week or just about every week so we put the end caps on and store it in the plastic bin we have for the hose.

If not camping again for 1 month or less, I usually throw the $1.50 - $2.00 sediment filter in the trash, not worth saving.
