This recent
video clip from Vancouver BC shows a pedestrian almost being hit by a car. He didn't bother to look for oncoming traffic and fortunately the car wasn't moving very fast. The guy almost deserves to be flattened... I can't understand pedestrians that don't properly look both ways to see if there are oncoming vehicles regardless whether you're in a marked or unmarked crosswalk.
Pedestrians using cell phones and/or listening to music and stepping onto a road is a problem here (and probably everywhere else too) and they've been floating the idea of banning hand held devices and ear buds while crossing a road. I just don't understand people that think they can safely walk across a road with nary a care in the world. I wonder how many people would actually follow such a law and how they would enforce it.
Then there is the whole situation between cyclists and motorists.
