I was in traffic court many years ago. A doctor got up to the front to plead his case to the judge for a speeding ticket. He was a surgeon and said he was called in for a life threatening emergency operation.
The judge told him it didn't give him the right to possible kill someone else with his driving. The ticket stood. So someone else's emergency isn't my problem if it's not a ambulance in my mirror.
I drive 40000 miles a year for my job. There are more and more idiots on the roads these days. A lot of road rage and me first attitudes.
If there's a slow lane pull out I definitely move over. If I'm going the speed limit I'm not worrying about what's behind me. Moving off to the side of the road for letting impatient people by, possibly picking up something in my tires causing a flat, or lose control on the shoulder. Not happening.
