The way I see the issue with the occasional emergency is as Funnycamper stated, with ~90% (very rough estimate) of the drivers just crawling up your tailpipe because they can, want or need to due to being late for a meeting, hurrying home for a beer, or just because, one can no longer decipher between a true emergency and just an a$$hat driver which seems to be the majority of the time.
And yes, we just had an emergency situation this past Fathers Day W/E. EMT said our son was stable enough for us to transport him, so we did. But when I came up behind others I didn't tailgate them. Kept a safe distance back until they moved over (e-way) or I was able to pass safely. There are some ways to try to notify others, hazards on being one of them.
It was mentioned about entitlement for those doing the speed limit (give or take), but how does this not go both ways? Because one is in a hurry it is MY FAULT???? How is that??? Maybe if more people took responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming others things would better. More polite to each other instead of the f- you me first attitude.....
It was posted to follow the law, but what was posted even proved those in compliance of the law were in fact following the law....
Also mentioned is cars of today (capability wise) and the number of drivers on the road. Could it be that we as a whole are not as good of drivers now due to all the distractions? Or the lack of maturity, responsibility, and respect people have now a days?
What happened to when people used to (politely) argue who was going to let who go first at a four way stop???? Now people just roll the stop to get ahead of you as you are starting to cross the intersection!
