We have used a Brake Buddy for 10 years. I originally bought it because we had multiple cars/trucks we towed. Although I only tow one vehicle now, I still use and like the Brake Buddy. I bought and updated bracket that allows you to hook it fast to the brake pedal.
My toad was a Tracker. And you just about had to lay on the pavement to get low enough to put that brake buddy in and out. Back breaking at best and dreaded each time I had to take it in and out as a full timer. As a newbie when I bought it, I didn't take that into consideration how small and low that car was in regards to getting the BB in and out.
Wish I had known about the updated bracket before I sold it. - BobboExplorer IIReady Brake. Actually, Ready Brute Elite tow bar with Ready Brake built in.
No 12v power needed. Don't have to install or remove anything before/after towing. Don't have to store anything while not towing. It just works. - jules6ExplorerReady Brake Nothing better or easier to use.
- Ray___JuneExplorerSMI stay-n-play. Throw a switch to turn on or off. Applies power brakes thru a vacuum pump, and is progressive.
- dkreuzenExplorerRVi brake. Compact and easy to setup.
- tropical36ExplorerREADYBRAKE for simplicity, dependability and cost effectiveness and at this point, wouldn't have any other.
- rk911ExplorerUS Gear. love it!
- luvlabsExplorerRVi2 Brake. Sits flat on the floor, light weight, and installs in seconds. Toad tire pressure monitoring system (if you don't already have one) can be added for $<300.
- cochise49ExplorerInvisibrake works well. It all depends on whether you will ever need to move the braking system to another vehicle. If you intend to keep your toad for a long time, a device that is semi-permanently installed may fit the bill. Prices seem to be similar enough for various systems. Invisibrake was about 25% of total initial cost to tow for us.
