"Best" is impossible to narrow down. "Memorable" and "eventful" is another thing. And there again, it's not necessarily the location either. "Best, memorable, and eventful" are more meaningful when considering the activities we did and if we were with family or not. Some of the fondest memories are camping with my in-laws. They had a little Terry 15 foot rebuilt camper and we had ours. The time spent together (on several occasions) was priceless. One of those memories was with my father-in-law at a festival and we were literally eating our way from one end to the other getting samples from every food vendor there. My mother-in-law was so mad at us for eating so much, she was spitting nails! We had a blast, not so much eating, but watching mom-in-law explode! I mean! That's kind of hard to top!
My father-in-law is gone now, so is that little Terry 15 foot camper. That's why the memories are so special now.
Edit:
I remember I was about 10 years old and my parents parked their camper at a campground. It was the 4th of July. Fireworks started, and one of the fireworks landed on a neighbor's travel trailer. The thing caught fire and burned to the ground! Now that was very memorable!
I remember the time we got caught in a tornado and ended up in the campground bath house. Everyone was in there with their pets and such panicked out of their minds. My wife and I had a blast, making light of the situation with comments like ... "hope the tornado takes the camper, we can get a new one then!" Our willy-nilly antics broke the trauma everyone was experience and folks lightened up and realized it wasn't so bad after all. Tornado never hit, it just few near by.
I remember in Florida a few years ago when our little dog just went nuts and was so incredibly excited walking on a trail. You'd thought the little guy had never been on a walk before. He was so excited to be somewhere new! We still laugh about that even today! Hard to top that one too.
And another time years ago, when another dog spotted a goose, took of bolting after the goose. The goose jumped in the lake, the dog followed swimming out after the goose. It happened so fast. Then all of a sudden, the dog realized he was in the middle of the lake. Stopped swimming after the goose, turned around and looked at us like ... HELP! I can't swim! It was so funny!
How about the time the kids were little. We were hiking a trail. It turned out to be much longer than expected. We were all tired. The poor little dog (a different one) just couldn't go any longer. I ended up carrying the dog the rest of the way, it began pouring rain in droves! The trail was muddy now. We were all slipping and sliding! Everyone was covered with mud now, dog was soaked, we were a mess, everything wet, tired, awful! Finally made it back to the van and laughed for years over that!
The list goes on and on.... not places are the "best"... "memories" that are not-forgettable is what its all about.
