Do check out the threads on LED upgrades. Some is just a matter of replacing a bulb with LED equivalent.
The primary duty of that battery isn't starting. Don't concern yourself with cold cranking amps. The applicable spec for you is amp hour capacity. Try to get as much over 100 in the box as you can. A couple of the suggestions posted above were for 150 and 160 amp hours. This would be great upgrade over what was in the box originally.
Thanks - tatestExplorer IIOptima batteries do not store the most energy for package size. What you gain from the spiral windings, compared to flat plate AGM types, is ruggedness, and in some models, additional surface area for lower internal resistance and thus higher peak current for starting loads.
- mileshuffExplorerAnyone have experience with Optima batteries? Somewhat expensive ($270 for Group 27 deep cycle) but am told they are worth it.
- MrWizardModeratorGenny starter doesn't draw near what the truck engine starter does
You could start the genny from a motor scooter battery
You need deep cycle battery amp.hour capacity
That is what will keep the furnace working all night
Then run the genny in the morning or afternoon, to charge the battery - tpiExplorer

Bottom line on wet cell batteries. When comparing different manufacture go with the battery that weighs the most. Just make sure it is not a starting battery.
What wrong with a starting battery?
It does need to start my Geni.
Should I not concern myself with cold cranking specs?
I know on cars that is very important.
1st off thanks to all of you.
I had no idea there are so many options available, s,ONI will take a better measurement & start researching.
& no I'm not having a supply issue being mostly don't hangout inside too much & no tv, we go camping to get away from TV & yeah sometimes bring a laptop or two.
But since I have a Geni when I need the power I fire it up, at night most places don't appreciate that though.
I just wanna make sure I have more than enough battery for things like the furnace through out the night.
I've not run an inverter or anything to run other things off the battery.
Just some lights & the fridge.
Pretty simple really. - RCMAN46ExplorerBottom line on wet cell batteries. When comparing different manufacture go with the battery that weighs the most. Just make sure it is not a starting battery.
- pnicholsExplorer IIIgnoring the ultra-expensive lithium RV batteries, here's my favorite 12 volt true deep cycle RV battery. It has about a Group 31 footprint but maybe just a tiny bit taller, holds 145 amp hours of capacity, is faster charging than liquid acid batteries because it's zero-hassle AGM construction, and has world-class reputation, warranty, and quality: http://www.dcbattery.com/rollssurretteagm_s12-160agm.html
- Walmart group 29 should fit. Otherwise check the Trojan link above for battery dimensions and capacity.
