Several run-ins with severe weather...
One time, while camping at St. Andews State Park in Panama City Beach, FL, the weather radio went off in the middle of the night with a severe thunderstorm warning. I got dressed and went outside to take the awning down. The next morning, we found out that our neighbors had their awning destroyed by the wind.
In 2005, we were in Valdosta, GA to visit the SO's daughter when Hurricane Dennis was making landfall. The RV park we stayed in was full of evacuees from the FL Gulf Coast. We decided to leave a day early because the weather was deteriorating with rain bands moving through. During the drive back to Atlanta, there were lots of tornado warnings along our route.
Finally, while making another trip to Panama City Beach on a Friday, we left Atlanta in the early afternoon under a Severe Thunderstorm watch. Along our route down US 231 in Alabama, there were multiple tornado warnings behind and ahead of us and we drove through some pretty stiff winds in the darkness. God must have been looking out for us because as we drove though Dothan, AL, we learned that there was a state of emergency due to widespread storm damage and the City of Enterprise, AL had suffered widespread damage due to tornadoes earlier. It was stupid for us to travel in such weather, and we don't be dong that again!
