What's up with RV Sales People?

Obviously they're independently swealthy an just working for the fun of it.

If this is the Houston location they are Very busy. You have to wait for the next available salesman when there in person. I'm sure they could unplug their phones and still make plenty of sales.

If they are too busy to answer the phone they are probably too busy to make any repairs needed or give you the time of day.

Fridays and Mondays are always bad times to initiate new business. Imagine for RV companies it's even worst during the start of summer. And I wouldn't expect much from any kind of sales company at 9:30 AM.
Just something to think on.

If they are that busy they can certainly afford to pay a few administrative people to return calls and emails. The potential buyer is looking for basic information - they can pass the customer on to a salesperson at the appropriate time.

PPL is mostly consignments. They sell most rigs "as is". No inspections, no P&L (they will do a Pre-Delivery Checkout/ Demo - at a cost to the buyer of $390 - which will demonstrate what is working at the time of delivery. If something is not working, you have the opportunity to back out of the sale if the owner won't fix it. PPL will not fix any issues).

What you see is what you get, and it is your responsibility to find any issues and alter your offer for the rig to take into consideration any repairs needed. They do buy some rigs outright, or as trade-ins. But what I've seen - those rigs are sold 'as is'.

I know some folks who have bought from PPL and are very happy. I know some who will never darken their door again.

If you are not comfortable inspecting the rig, and getting anything you find fixed yourself - they are not the place for your to go.

When we went to PPL in New Braunfels and Cleburne, the number of browsers can exceed the number of sales people much of the time.

Folks are literally standing in line to look at rigs.

Yes, they don't need to return calls or e-mails to make money. They have so many people wanting to buy, and unless you are trading in an RV, they are the best place to sell if you don't want to go through the fun of face to face trying to sell your rig.

Well I finally got the email at 5:30 with an apology and the information. Said they were really busy. Looks like a pretty good deal on a 7 month old trailer.

only 7monsths old, wonder why the first guy dumped it.

One of the problems is that many companies have "Cut back" across the board to save money, They have layed off or not replaced retiring mechanics, Service consultants, and yes SALES PEOPLE.

Now. Think about this for just a little bit... Your profit comes from sales and serivce, If you do not have enough sales or service people.. YOU GO BROKE.

Another problem may be timing.. I do not know what is going on just now but often companies like PPL will go to big RV shows.. I know some companies where when that happens the office is occupied basicallly by a janiotor, Not much more.

And then there is the "Event of a lifetime" IE: Owner's daughter getting married and entire company invited type things

That said... I would think they woudl keep the sales office staffed. But,, Well, What I'd do and what many folks do.. Two different things.

Forget calling. Email is much better since many businesses are starting to wake up and use it. I hate phone tag.
