Thought this would be a good time for us to voice our wish list for RV designs and perhaps some companies will incorporate them.Still on our list is for rv makers to let the customers design their own closets. With all the modular closet design products these days it's time for the RV industry to begin incorporating this concept.

1st off, I think the RV industry has improved leaps and bounds from just 5 years ago.BUT, why can't we at least have the option of a metal roof?I have a cargo trailer I've been using for racing for about 20 years and has never leaked a drop and I've never even thought about going on the roof. We bought a toyhauler a few years ago and am constantly on the roof doing maintenance and cleaning.I caught the factory caulking cracking at the front cap joint and avoided roof rot, but only because I got up there to install a solar charger.I have spent a couple hundred $$$ and invested a couple Saturdays on eternabond, but it is still a pain in the butt.Thanks :-)

I'd just like to see them get away from the dark wood cabinets and stick with lighter tones throughout. It's dark enough here in the PNW!

Can't count the number of rigs we looked at, but went on by due to dark woods and coverings that were more appropriate for an old English library. One of the reasons we like the RV style is to enjoy the outdoors, so we favor lots of windows and lots of light. There are some manufacturers who provide lighter interiors with Open Range being one that pops to mind, and the Jayco Designer in my sig has a very open feel. But it is the exception and not the rule from our experience.

X2 on a better roof material. Semi-trailer roofs take a lot of abuse before they leak and weight is an issue there as well. Would like to see more about the rhino roof systems and metal roof systems for RV's.

What I'd pay for... Nice 30-31 foot, extra wide, no slide, interior height sufficient NOT to need a skylight in the shower just so I can stand up. Similar layout and interior/exterior storage as a 1988 Winnebago Super Chief. One piece metal roof, with holes for bare essentials only(AC/Plumbing/fridge/Antenna)NO Oven, No Stove top, No built in dinette, No Sleeper sofa. Waste tanks on driver side for ease of maintenance/dumping. A 20 year warranty against delamination.Just my thoughts

With a visit to IKEA, my thought was, if only the RV manufacturers would team up with IKEA! Just imagine, the storage & organization that would be in your rig if IKEA designers laid it out! IKEA could design, install & supply everything one would need!

Well .... here's an RV with an available options package that makes it possible for it to run off only two "fuels" - the sun and it's main diesel tank:

Technically, our Itasca Class C (and also the two RVs in my links above) can run off only one "fuel" if desired - if we don't use it's oven and carry along an electric hotplate ... we can then camp in just about any (North American) situation with it and provide everything using only the fuel in it's main 55 gallon tank to power the built-in Onan generator in combination with some idling of it's main engine. I COULD go on camping trips with it's propane tank empty, or better still, install a huge AGM or Lithium battery bank where the 18 gallon propane tank currently is located. :C

Let's face it I got a heavy engine, a 55 gallon fuel tank, a generator, a propan tank, a propan stove, fridge for gas and electricity, 12 V wiring lights and some outlets and 110 V microwave, TV etc. Etc. etc.

So how about to make a MH with one energy source like fuel cells and electric motors and everything else running off the fuel to me that would be so incredible great.

And I believe with today's technology it is actually possible to do, but I'm not the expert on it.

At least it will be my dream until I have it...

I have owned sail and power boats as well as several RV's and what varies widely with the former is how easy it is to access the electrical and other parts and do servicing or repairs. Some are terrible and others are a work of art. RV's fall into the terrible category.

As a result minor modifications or additions or repairs become a major project to work around the lack of access.

As a minor item, I wouldn't mind a feature that Phoenix Cruiser has -- a permanently mounted macerator pump, but with a full 3" sewage hose bypass.
