When do most of the Snowbirds head south???

The past couple of weeks I could tell they were coming back by how many auto accidents you see driving down the road. Its a sure sign.

We can't head south until after Christmas because our 2 granddaughters would be so unhappy with us. We left on the 26th last year but will not start until the 27th or 28th this year. Of course that also depends on what the weather is doing. The bad thing about leaving after Christmas is the traffic. There are lots of snowbirds who wait to leave then and last year it was terrible. We are looking at different routes for this season.

Soon after Labor Day weekend is when I head south. Everything up North starts to close up.
I'm already in South FL. now for 7 months of winter.

Did I say I don't like cold weather? :)

Now.

Here in South-TX we are starting to see Winter Texans arriving from the northern states and Canada as it get cold earlier there! We are also seeing our part-time residents arrive, as they stay 6 months here in a cottage or apartment, then 6 months back north. Most Winter Texans will come after the holidays. So, we have just a trickle now.

Leaving next week, but come back for the holidays. Now is the time to go so you don't deal with all the traffic from the Northeast on 95 South.

We start out trip south week before Thanksgiving. Last year it was not early enough. Day before we left mother nature gave us 17" of snow. We will try again this year. Thanksgiving is a couple days earlier than last year. :R

We are on our way right now.
Normally we don't leave until the end of October, but two years ago we bought a RV lot, and last spring we bought a new trailer that we will put on the lot permanently.
The dealer who is close by stored it for us and our preliminary inspection is scheduled for Friday and then we will move it to the lot.
Next year we will go back to leaving in the end of October.
