Thanks for all the great replies and the sharing of where you sit regarding the work.
My ideal was to quit wrenching, completely, when going into retirement. I have other interests and projects where my time is better spent. I should have known when I had difficulties with new car service agreements and dealer service that I would be fixing cars and trucks forever.
What got me thinking of this topic is the last grueling weekend of car repair, followed by truck repair. I spent the better part of one day nestled on a moving blanket on a concrete slab. Two days later, I was outside on the driveway with the same blanket underneath my truck. I had actually tried to get the Missus to take her car in to a shop but she knows I can do everything so we can save a few bucks doing it ourselves. That cold deck just drains the heck out of me.
Keep the thoughts coming. I'd bet there are more than a few that are balancing vehicle, RV maintenance and repair with DIY vs shop time.
