Dealers don't much like it, but I tell them I will sign the paperwork once I complete the detailed PDI checklist that I'm bringing in with me. I had one dealer years ago that refused to let me do the detailed PDI until he knew I'd walk away, then he demanded I complete the paperwork first, again I said I'd walk. He eventually relented. Thankfully the PDI went smooth and we left with our Jayco.
Keep in mind once you sign the paperwork you own it, you are then in the position to have any warranty work done and approved by the manufacturer, the dealer is not as motivated to get things fixed. But if the deal is pending fixing those items to your satisfaction they are highly motivated.
