X3 that is exactly what I was thinking. Guaranteed there is an issue here that will not be to your liking and why they want you to sign the paperwork first.
The dealer may have noticed an issue that requires the unit going back to the factory for repair. Once you own it they be "shocked" to discover the issue at the PDI and of course help you send it back for repair, now that's it off their floorplan and on your nickel.
I would:
A. no papers get signed until the PDI is complete and issues have been rectified and
B. Triple check everything on the PDI, the mere fact that they asked you to sign papers a week in advance makes me suspicious.
