There is a county park here that shares the sheriff's dept with the other county park on down the river...
One year we had a horrid time with loud, obnoxious neighbors, they kept the party going all night long. The sheriff came through the next morning and we asked that they come back that night to patrol and take care of the neighbors if need be. They promised they would.
We didn't see them again - day or night - for the rest of the week! Not saying they didn't come back but we didn't see them and the party continued through another night.
Oh, and a friend suggested we set up our lawn chairs so we could watch them. If asked, we would say there is a contest going around the campground about who was the biggest idiot in their campsite. Thought this would bring on a fight so we declined to do it. But it did give us something to laugh about. (And watching privately, we decided who would have won!)
Luckily, the rude campers left about mid day the day after we talked to the Sheriff.
That was the worst experience of the 3 or 4 problems we have encountered in the state or county parks. Seems if the partiers do get spoken to, they quiet down for about 15-20 minutes then are right back at it. Unless the rangers/sheriffs come back around to check on them, they feel it is all right to again turn up the volume (of music, laughter and speech).
These times, thank goodness, have been rare of late. Either its being taken care of or we have gotten more fortunate in choosing where we camp.
