Pay the $10.00 and don't worry about it.
The macerator is a viable option however it takes twice as long as the stinky slinky.
If you use the macerator enough you will eventually get something caught in the impeller and need to clean it out. Yes it's a yucky a job as you imagined.
It won't hurt to invest in a macerator if you like, It is a nice option to have for those rare occasions the park maybe closed. However $10.00 is way more convenient than dealing with the slow cumbersome macerator.
Did I mention you need to provide 12 volts D.C. to the macerator.
For those that have no other options the macerator is certainly a worthwhile solution, however for those with other options available consider the macerator your last resort.
Yes I have a macerator in my arsenal, but I avoid using it if I have another way available
