I haven't figured out how to include the picture for this but the hike across the lake looks suspiciously like the Crypt Lake Hike in Waterton Lake National Park
OK, I know the picture is vague, but you are close and we will stop here. It's the International border between the US and Canada looking east from the sight seeing boat on Upper Waterton Lake. By treaty, the border has about a 20' clear swath.
