The actual number of islands on Winni is debatable as it depends on the interpretation of what one calls an island. The idea of an island for every day of the year is accepted by many on the lake.
Originally called Redhead Island, it has been known as Treasure for quite a long time now. The summit of Mt. Major is an easy and popular hike for locals and visitors year round.
