Where are you at?

Is this the place to put this, not sure?

My wife and I don't do a lot of long distance traveling, usually once a year, like now. It's the week between Xmas and New Years and we're a couple lets say our mid to late 40's... We're camped in Biloxi Mississippi at the Boomtown RV park and here we are on Christmas night and the place is dead, what do yall do?

We love sitting outside having some adult drinks, listening to some good country and conversation. Problem, nobodys outside... this isn't new to this place, it's like this at most places we camp...

what's the issue?

So, I'm telling you, all of you, while on vacation at a campground go outside, be personable and have fun... Stop worrying about WIFI and TV...

Maybe all the people in the CG you are at, are those full timers I keep hearing about.

I understand many of the working full timers have internet-based jobs. I am sure that the Holiday Season would be a busy time for those making a living on their computers.

They simply do NOT have time to enjoy the fire with you-----they are WORKING.

Trust me, I'm not expert on people traveling and what they do, but the people around me do not look like they're on the road working... These people look like they haven't worked in quite a few years if you get my drift. This particular CG isn't the full timers kind of place, it's not a mobile home park with a few overnight camp spots, there's no decks, sheds and golf carts.

I'm not complaining, just venting a little. I like a good conversation and we've met some of the best people while traveling. We're headed to New Orleans on Tuesday and meeting up with friends of ours from Wisconsin that we met at a NASCAR race 2 years ago, haven't seen them since late October and only text once and a while.

Hope everyone's having a good holiday. See you outside

Winterized months ago, preparing for a Pennsylvania winter.

Who knew we would have T-shirt weather for Christmas :h

Keeps this up... I will have to mow the lawn in January. :S

CAREFUL this topic doesn't start a "Don't tell me what to do on my vacation" debate.

Being an OLD camper, I prefer to sit outside, wave to those out for a stroll, watch the kids play, etc.... I would be happy to sit by the fire with you, drink an adult beverage, and pass the hours with idle chit-chat.

OTHERS.....pull in, hook up, hybernate. I have seen them spend the entire week sitting inside.

    Each their own.

I would never want to start a "don't tell me what to do on my vacation debate" or would I (scratches head). This is actually unusual for me to be on the computer, I'm usually outside but it's only 9am and the DW has decided to sleep in. So, I'm telling you, all of you, while on vacation at a campground go outside, be personable and have fun... Stop worrying about WIFI and TV...

That's what I'm talking about... Wish there were more people like you.
  • We're doing the snowbird thing this winter. We started in Florida and we'll be working our way around the Gulf coast in the next couple of months. We're split - I like to sit outside regardless of the weather, but the DW doesn't like the humidity or bugs, so she only comes out on nice days. So you could ask why are we doing this? Well everyone in FL is telling us that "it's never like this".

  • I've noticed the same thing at some campgrounds. We're spending the winter at a campground in Florida, so the demographics may be different. The majority here are snow birds in big rigs, almost no children.

Some campers are outside a lot and are friendly, others seem to be inside most of the time and not so friendly.

It's not due to the weather, which has been great. I suspect many are glued to their satellite TV or the Internet. Can't imagine what else they are doing inside 24x7.
