We will be at Ice Harbor Dam for summer 2013 - volunteering for the Corps of Engineers - June, July, August, and thru Labor Day.
How was your experience at Ice Harbor. It looks like a unique and interesting experience. Especially, in Visitors Center, interp, tours, etc. - MerrykaliaExplorerHeading back to Natural Tunnel SP, VA tomorrow for another month of hosting duties. Home again after Labor Day weekend.
- murphy38ExplorerMy wife and I have just finished the month of July at Janes Island State Park in Maryland. We love that Park and had the best time, the staff are great to work with. In a few days we are headed to Prince Williams Forest NP in VA.
- halfwrightExplorerWe have been at Steamboat Lake State Park Colorado since May 15. It has to be the prettiest place I have ever seen. Acres of wildflowers and wildlife all over--birds, moose, deer, elk, beaver. My wife sells day passes and I do maintenance and repair--20 hours a week each. We will be here until Sep. 10th. Before that, we had a month at Ft. Stanton NM. The fort has an unbelievable amount of history and it is close to Lincoln NM, site of the Lincoln County cattle wars--another bunch of history.
- WagginTailsRVExplorerWe have been at Mark Twain Landing, a few miles south of Monroe City, MO. I am working maintenance while my wife is working in the store. This is an older RV Park so maintenance stays pretty busy.
- DianneOKExplorerWe volunteered at Greenwood SP, just up the road from PL...great place,no campers :)

Just added Andersonville National Historic Site to our volunteer trail.
Obsession and addiction, what a way to go!
Just curious, but have you been to Point Lookout, MD? We found this place to be so steeped in civil war history and just a great place to volunteer. (Well, with the exception of the mosquitoes.)
While camp-hosting, there are lots and lots of opportunities to participate in the historical aspects of the park - from participating in the Fort Lincoln re-enactments, to the civil war museum, light house open houses, etc.
There are lots and lots of opportunities and they are always looking for camp-hosts. Each camping unit is required to put in 20 hours each week, which is usually done on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and not a lot of hard work.
We have only camp-hosted at Amistad NRA. We prefer visitor services, interp, etc.
MD has a number of interesting and historic locations that would be fun.
We have not been to Lookout Point. The NPS some locations we were previously considering. Now, alas, we are booked through Sept 2014.
Hope to head West next October. Calvary Forts and American Indian History is another area we are interested in pursuing for the future. There was Civil War activity out West also that we would like to visit.
Thanks for the information. - RV_CONUSExplorer
