I joined this site so I can find it, and there is not a section for that on forums so guess this is not the site..(someone told me to join the RV club sponsored by Sam and I could fine someone.)Do not yet have an RV so would like to join someone who does. Am a female so I can hear the cautionary warnings but I have found cruise companions on Cruisemates.com, no problem, even though most of been males, no untoward experiences, one got a little frisky but hey, he was an Italian man from Italy and when I rebuffed him, respected that. I do realize that being on a cruise ship is different from being alone with someone in a vehicle but can screen someone well. Tried travel websites like Travel Companion Exchange, TravBud and Travel Buddies, posted of travel forums like Fodors and Frommers, even on Craigslist, Roaming Times (which DID have a companion forum) is now taken over by a commercial site. This site would be the best, is it NOT allowed for liability issues although they could post a disclaimer.

One of the difficulties in finding an RV traveling companion is that people who want an RV already have one. It's sort of like dating past a certain age -- everyone has a S&B house they don't want to part with, so how do you move in together?I would like to find a person, or several short term people, who want to travel with me in my RV. And, I, too, have been having a hard time figuring out where to look.So I think it's great that the OP is talking about this BEFORE buying an RV.

Finding companions to share interests/hobbies with can be difficult especially as we get older, so I understand what you are asking.I think the friendship would need to be established and confirmed (that it works for both) long before it goes to the level of RVing or camping/traveling together.

I will only state that I am accepting applications for traveling companion.I"m not quite ready (Still doing some repairs on the RV) but.. I will consider the application if the "young lady" (I use the Ham Radio definition of "YL" (Female human, not married, age does not matter). and well.. by the time the electronic interview is completed.. I hope to be ready for company.

There is a group in Escapees called "SOLOS". These groups are called "Birds of a Feather" or BOF. This group is for people that travel as singles. I do not know if the people in that group can help you but since they are single travelers, they will probably have better information than I can provide. I think you'd find it easier, more pleasant and able to meet and travel with singles if you had your own RV.

We know folks who are members of the above-mentioned "Solos" and "Loners on Wheels" and they have a lot of fun - as a group getting together and doing things together such as siteseeing, hiking, potlucks, boating, fishing, etc.

I'm sorry. I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out a few RVing facts to a person who admittedly doesn't have an RV. In fact, I think it would be irresponsible to NOT do so.

This forum is so peculiar. I'm done. Only 2 folks actually answered the poster. The rest of you just decide to give unwanted advice from your perspective, that she didn't ask for. I'm sorry, OP, I have no recommendations for you but I have met quite a few people at local rallies, and from there found a local RV forum. I just wish others would answer the question and stop trying to act like they know what's in your best interest. You won't know if it is until you try it.
