Came up here to get away from crowds and the heat and I found that so did half the Central Valley. Don't these folks know it's after Labor Day and they are suppose to be back at work and all these kids are suppose to be in school?And all these retired folks, aren't they worried about the economy? How can they afford gas to move these rigs around? I guess we're just part of those 1%ers the media talks about. Well for the weather report from Vandenberg AFP, partly cloudy with 5 to 10 knot winds out of the NW with a marine layer hiding the oil platforms. It's nothing you folks from the rest of CA want to have near you. Enjoy the heat where you are.If they would launch a missile tonight things would be complete.Enjoy.

Don't forget getting away from the fires and smoke. Maybe those kids are home-schooled. I see that more and more when I camp in what used to be the quiet season.

I can't understand statements about haw bad the economy is. It's not. RV's are flying off dealer lots. Gas prices are falling - paid $1.98 this morning.

Layoffs in the oil industry is not a measure of the economy. These companies brought on new workers due to elvolving technology in oil and gas extraction - fracking. They created a surplus so people got laid off. It's not because no one is buying gas or heating their home. Read the post above about the number of RV's being bought the first half of the year. And if the FED raises the interest rates today, it will further indicate a strong economy. Another good indicator is the movement of freight. The trucking/logistics company I work for made over 5 billion dollars last year.

I'm sorry, but moaning about the economy is 4 years old news.

We are outside DC this week and the campground was sold out last night, Momday, over 400 sites. Monday when we were leaving a NY campground there were kids around but then we realized that it was a holiday and some schools were closed. Not quite as full tonight but still plenty of rigs here.

About 100 miles north of Vandenberg the marine layer is off shore, the sun is shining and the temp is 62 degrees F, 78%RH.

Many schools have year round classes with breaks taken throughout the year. That allows families more flexibility but sure makes it tough for us retired folks ;)

Apparently people are not worried about the economy. From RVIA;

The RV market continued to track upward in the first half of 2015 with total RV wholesale shipments reaching 202,653 units through June, an increase of 5.5% over the 192,065 units shipped during the same time frame in 2014 according to RVIA’s June 2015 survey of manufacturers.

That many new units in only 6 months and not many new RV parks and campgrounds.
