- travelnutzExplorer IIWe always carry from $200 to even $1000 each and several Credit cards on our persons. Most of the time the higher amounts are in an under our outer clothes nylon money belt around our waist. Can't be seen and easy to get to and only us knows it's there. In my wallet or her purse is usually under $200 and one credit card each when in or going to a suspect area. We have cash with us for any thing we want to buy that doesn't accept Credit cards. Never had any problems even it foreign countries or 3rd world countries. Having U.S. currency talks big as every vendor will bargin/barter much better when paying with greenbacks.
Ordered nearly all our RV's with a steel fireproof safe bolted directly to the frame secured with hardened tack welded carriage thru bolts up with the nuts inside the safe. Some, I'd mounted myself. In a fire with an RV, the floor near a corner away from propane lines etc remains the coolest area and an area so easy to keep even cooler by spraying water on it. Heat rises! - wa8yxmExplorer IIIThat is easy. In my coin case of course.. (Who has the folding kind?)

I keep my money in the bank, savings account,,
use debit card for everything,..have bit of cash in my wallet for emergency.. - AmericalVetteExplorerI don't carry more than a hundred or so cash, and mostly use a debit card.
If I do have extra cash, It goes to my ex wife (and not by choice!):( - cmeadeExplorerJust finished reading all seven pages on this post and got some good laughs!! I would jokingly ad my $.02 --- a hundred dollar bill taped around the barrel of my .40 cal Glock which is in the holster on my belt holding up my pants -- that is the best I could add to this thread.
- Gene_GinnyExplorerI keep my extra cash in a large coffee can on the kitchen counter ...... right next to the rattlesnake food.
:R - lizzieExplorerEver since I lost the spare truck keys in the bottom of the dog food container I have been afraid to hide anything. It took three months to get down to the bottom of the can and I had already spent over $200 on a new set of keys. Like most, we don't carry much cash. I have a portfolio with copies of important papers that stays in the truck. Same for passports unless we have them on our person. We do have issues with what to do with computers, tablets, and cameras. lizzie

funny thread! - CavemanCharlieExplorer IIII didn't read all 6 pages of this tread.
I don't often camp where I have to worry about hiding money. But, if I did I would pull up the insole of my shoe and put some under there. That is what I do when I go to concerts / Air Shows etc. This is where in those cases I hide my only credit card too.
Don't know about passports. I may visit Canada this year and if I do it would be the first time I've left the country. I would probably leave it hidden in my pickup truck. With the truck I have now it has a console with a cup holder built in. If you pry on it with a screw driver the cup holder will pop up out of place. Then there is plenty of room underneath of it to hide things.
I do carry some cash. I forgot the PIN number to my credit card years ago. I write checks out to places that still take them. I know,, I know,,, someone is going to tell me checks are not secure. I asked my local banker about that and he said he couldn't remember the last time they had a case of check fraud. Debit card fraud they have all the time though. He told me to keep writing checks as long as I can find places that will take them.
Someone mentioned buying a 5 dollar hamburger with a credit card. Some of the local fast food places will not take credit cards. To big of a hassle for them. Obviously the major chains often will. The local Subway Sandwich shop will not though, surprisingly enough. - DSDP_DonExplorerOn my previous coach, I bolted a small Sentry safe 10" x 8" x 4" to a sturdy non removable shelf. I through bolted it with large washes and carriage bolts. It could only be unbolted form inside the safe. I placed it far enough back in a cabinet so that no one could pry on it. It was difficult to get to, which made it hard to get open. We kept our passports, cash and extra set of keys.
When we go to places like Quartzsite, you'll need cash if you want to wander the flea markets and buy stuff.
