Where to go with older RV?

Yes and no. The tribal park I go to has people who stay all summer. A city park I use from time to time lets people stay for several months, if they are working locally. Providing a living place for seasonal workers is often the primary function of many public RV parks in the middle of the country, recreational use is secondary and has lower priority.

But generally, long-term residence on public land degrades from recreational use, and parks are managed to maintain a turnover so more people can use them.

Oh, and BTW some smaller KOAs have special rates for long-term and sometimes we have found the best places to stay for a month or more at smaller RV Parks - where maybe some amenities may not be available, but you can meet the most friendly people - many of whom may be working seasonal jobs and staying in the Park.

And have you looked at County Parks ? and where are you looking in Oregon ?

We usually just state that we have a 32 ft travel trailer pulled with a 2008 Suburban and would like a full-hookup site for the night or whatever time frame we need. And usually they don't ask for any other particulars, except if we have a pet, and we tell them a 9-lb Chi.

If they ask what year and manufacturer we say a January 2004 Alpenlite (we know what month it came off the assembly line) and we add the 3 ft. front "Y" due to the fact that we have been squeezed into a 27 ft. site when we say we are 28 ft. AND we need that extra space for the Suburban.

If they ask where we have heard of them, we tell them either RV.Net or RV Park Reviews.

We don't understand how you could spend countless hours on the phone and websites and not be able to find a place to stay .. RV Park Reviews will take you to their website where the Rules are stated. Once we like a park we pretty much stick to that Park for future stays, and try to post our review of that park on RVParkReviews.com each time.

If more info is necessary, just do a search on this site for town or name of rv park, and usually someone here has stayed there.

We have yet to be refused. Oh, once we were sited out on the back row where others with dogs were sited, but kind of understand that ...

the ONLY places with Age restrictions AKA 10yr rule
is RV RESORTS
no age restrictions, in state parks, county parks, national parks or forests
KOA doesn't care, and neither do most other private CG's

the resorts use the rule, so nothing ugly or beat up can come in and upset their clientele who are paying resort prices

a clean nice looking RV will be welcome in Most Cg's

There may be some, but I can't imagine any RV park that would turn away a shiny Airstream. They haven't changed their looks in eons.

Maybe you're volunteering more info than necessary. When I make a reservation and they ask what I have, I say a 28' travel trailer. If they would come back with "what year?" (although I NEVER have been asked that), my reply would be "What year? Does that make a difference?" If then they say any thing about a 10 year rule, then it makes no difference what you say(short of lying about your rig), you're probably not going to get a site. Then my reply is "sorry I'm not interested in staying at your CG. Gary

If you really want to see Oregon, don't stay in RV parks. Instead, stay at; State Parks (Oregon has really nice ones), Nat. Forest C.G.'s, BLM C.G.'s, and our one National Park (Crater Lake). Oh yea, you'll save money too.

I think if you dont ask for a seasonal site, you will have more options. A place I stay at during the summer allows RV,s at any age except for seasonal sites. RVs then have to be 10 years or younger OR have to be inspected by management. I have a seasonal site and mine is older and they said I can stay as long as I like because my rig is well kept. You might want to try and Email some pics of your trailer to where you want to go, they may make an exception.
Personally, I would rather see more older rigs, then newer ones with a bunch of crappy looking fling spread all over the place. Flamingos, palm trees, gawdy awning lamps, tons of yard ornaments, and weeds 8 inches tall growing between most of it.
