1967 Ranchero with homemade bows made out of electrical conduit with a tarp thrown over it. First trip we discovered that the company had not completely waterproof the canvas and the first leak was right above my forehead. We were in a situation where we couldn't easily move from our site for a few days and luckily found some one with a large piece of plastic that they gave us to go over the canvas since it rained most of the time we were there.
We went from there to a Rambler wagon with fold down seats then a short time in a tent then bought a camper van that had been stripped inside so we built our own minimalist interior. After lots of years and miles in the van we bought a popup slide in camper then a hardside and then back to a popup which we just replaced last Summer with a slightly newer popup slide in.
We decided fairly early in our progression that we didn't want to go any bigger than what could be parked in a normal spot in a parking lot. We camp for convenience not to sit in one place for many days. We seldom spend more than a day or so in one spot unless it is an event that we are camped in the middle of.
