- derh20ExplorerData Point--Ford stopped making the C-Max plug in for this year. You can probably find a 2017 model at a dealer.
- T18skyguyExplorerThank you I'll check out the C Max. While researching I've found that the Chevy Sonic and Impala, and the Ford Taurus and Fiesta, are all to be discontinued. They say it's because the SUV and mini-suv is here to stay. People just like them better.
- carringbExplorerI STAND CORRECTED. I don't know why I was thought that was the Prius was towable. The Highlander is also not towable because the rear axle is always connected to the rear electric motor.
T18skyguy - If you want something smaller, I highly recommend the Ford C-Max. It's nimble like the Focus, gets very good fuel economy, and has a large cargo area. They have a plug-in version also, but you lose a good chunk of trunk space (the false floor still makes it very functional) but if you live in an area with high electric rates, the plug-in option may not pay off. - amxpressExplorer“What about hybrids? DO NOT TOW A TOYOTA HYBRID 4 DOWN!!!
Here’s a page from a Prius Owner’s Manual:

All of the Ford 6-cylinder cars and SUVs are flat-towable without a pump.
No belt driven CVT (most imported small cars and SUVs) can be flat-towed, pump or not.
Thanks carring, good information. I do have a Lincoln MKZ (2011) which is flat towable, but I would like something smaller but still comfortable. - catkinsExplorer IIEach year the list of four wheel down automatics gets smaller. Be very careful as some require a specific engine or transmission within a lineup to be towed. We are on the same hunt.
- T18skyguyExplorerThank you guys, I'm trying to open up more options for me for automatic four down. I grew up with manual transmission, but now my shifting hand usually has a coffee in it.:)

- theoldwizard1Explorer IIEvery dinghy will do better with an external pump !
