The back flow preventer is more than a check valve it is OPEN to atmosphere because it is a vacuum breaker designed to prevent any siphoning from waste tank back into water supply system.
SO YES it would be a strong robust germ to get from waste tank across air gap thru back flow and contaminate your potable water hose
Here is a clear one (most are black) so you can see inside.....Cap is open to atmosphere
I have a potable water hose for city water connection and for filling my fresh water tank.......because that hose will not leach into the water and make it taste funny. I don't care but GF does so I use it.
I also have a garden hose for for black tank flush connection, for washing 5vr, for general hose down
Both hoses are connected to water supply via a 'WYE' connector. I sometimes will even get a drink from that garden hose while outside washing 5vr cause I am thirsty. Course some folks will probably have a fit but I've had dirtier/nastier water in my mouth growing up, in the NAVY, working on oil rigs etc.
