I Just bought a Subaru Crosstrek to tow behind the MH.

I installed ours on the Jeep and how hard can it be with the instructions included? Do you have a friend or neighbor that might be a little more mechanically inclined, before finding someone to give all your money to? If not then do a search for trailer hitch installers in your area. Even CAmping World if you have one fairly close.
You might want to call Vince at TOWBARS UNLIMITED for more help and a recommendation for a base plate along with prices. - travelzooExplorerI did the first two myself. Not a bad job if you have the time and the tools. Having thoughts of getting a new toad and I think this time I'll let someone else do it. My choice will be the local bump shop as they have taken tons of front ends apart. The tail light wiring I will do.
- WyoTravelerExplorerDecide which base plate you are going to use, then download the instructions. After you read over the instructions you can decide if it is something you hand handle yourself. Mine required a torque wrench. Sometimes a breaker bar or impact wrench may be required to loosen some nuts. Possibly some millimeter wrenches and sockets.

What year is the Subaru, so that we might help in finding a base plate for it. So far, I don't see any in recent years by Demco or Blue Ox, but do think that 2013 was the first year for this car.
The car is equipped with a manual transmission, right? - rockhillmanorExplorerI went with an RV dealership. Based on the shear numbers of how many they have installed. And the understanding of what it is for.
I called 'one' car dealership and got a lot of head scratching with sure we can figure it out and put it on.:R
Glad I went with the "RV" dealership too. My toad had many model changes mid year. So you could NOT just order it from book based on make and model. They KNEW this and done it before and were able to order the correct one sans what the book said to order. Bonus was buying the tow bar and brake buddy there also.
I got a 'full' walk thru on hooking up and operating all my new toys.
IMHO if you are new to towing this is the way to go. - USARMYCWExplorerCamping World, and they did a really good job.
- tommy_salmonExplorerI just did my own two days ago. I called two different RV dealers who quoted $100.00 and $115.00 per hour, but the 1st would not say how many hours, and the 2nd said 3-6 hours to install! My 2004 Jeep Wrangler was pretty simple to do, but there is plenty of room under the front of a Jeep to get in there with a drill. Took me about 2 hours to do it myself with my son to help hold things in place while bolting to the frame. Ran wiring for tail/brake lamps today.
- tropical36ExplorerOK, here's one for the OP's car in case someone else might need one and most sure you can adapt any tow bar setup of your choosing to it and I'm a fan of the READYBRUTE/ELITE setup which furnishes the adapters for your particular base plate.... BASE PLATE
- Teacher_s_PetExplorerWe have done the last two ourselves. 2003 Sport Trac took under an hour. 96 Tracker took 3 hours over 3 days...had to wait for bumper cover mounting clips. Neither one required any drilling for the Demco base plate.

2013 is the first year and yes it is a manual transmission.
I even contacted Subaru to be sure it was 4 down towable.
