My boss had an Airstream in the '60s. Loved it. But I have to wonder, is Airstream still Airstream post Thor?
Yes, Airstream is still Airstream. Thor was formed in 1980 (by Wade THompson and Peter ORthwein for the purpose of purchasing Airstream from (I believe) Beatrice Foods, which evidently wasn't too interested. Thor was then in Jackson Center, Ohio and is still there today. Only later did Thor buy other companies.

Who do you think makes the best travel trailers?
They all do! The problem is that quality control is so poor in most companies that for every 2 good trailers there is a lemon...and the way most problems get resolved is to deny that they exist....
Nash/Arctic Fox are probably the most sturdily built, but they weigh a LOT...we looked at a 28' with no slide that was at the upper limits of what we could pull....
If you go to "lightweight" trailers, the construction standards change, so to compare a lightweight to a Fox is really apples-to-oranges.
Set some criteria about what you are looking for, then ask: "Who do you think makes the best travel trailers with the following length, weight, features, etc?" - cekkkExplorerMy boss had an Airstream in the '60s. Loved it. But I have to wonder, is Airstream still Airstream post Thor?

"I think they build", pretty hard to dispute that!
I have the figures in a filing cabinet and can scan the paperwork if you doubt what I'm saying!
WoodGlue - noe-placeExplorerMy point exactly.

The industry standard costs for building a new home, runs from a minimum of 80 dollars a foot to 200 a foot for a custom built home. If you consider 135.00 as the normal for tract houses today, take the square footage of your rv and see what it relates to.
Then consider putting that tract house on a set of axles and pulling it down the road.
Ya think it might last 10 years or more?
Apples and oranges though!
