In regards to ours being stored in a former chicken barn, there is no noticeable smell and it is our second year in it so I don't think rodents are a problem. There are many other RV's and boats in there and nobody has indicated that there is a problem either. There is a ton of ventilation in the building with many vents along the centre of the walls and at the top of the walls so there is no condensation, either. You can actually feel the air moving around in the building when in there so it is perfect.
We have room in our back yard to store the rig, but to put up a large enough carport to cover it (fiver is over 35' long and over 13' tall) would be iffy. I certainly wouldn't be able to obtain a permit from the city to do it and to erect one without a permit is quite risky.
