When I was 9 years old I discovered I didn’t like cities but had a very strong attraction to unspoiled country and the outdoors. In my teens I also had a wanderlust and would just drive back into remote areas and take off on foot. So RVing seems like a natural evolution, I can leave the city and wander the mountains and stay in natural setting enjoying the peace and quiet and the wildlife. It doesn’t get any better than that. I used to do that via tent and foot, but age has taken some of the steam out of me and wheels are now easier.
That ignores the fact one can travel all over the country to explore new areas more or less self sufficient without relying on anyone for food, shelter and so on. And no schedules. That itself is a big plus over traveling and relying on motels and restaurants and the attendant reservations/schedules.
The forum is a place for questions and trading experiences and you do get some complaints, admittedly some pretty trivial, but that’s people. Many chime in, myself included sometimes and I think it’s just a compulsion to be part of the conversation. But realistically, after 50 plus years of camping I have to stretch to find any valid complaints to talk about. Perhaps my aversion to development and crowds has isolated me from the situations that seem to irritate many people.
